Critical and Analytical Thinking
Critical Literature Analysis
Critical Literature Analysis (CLA) is a targeted course which focuses on analysis and writing. Students will do a guided reading of a novel with the instructor and learn to identify literary devices, figurative language, and outside context while annotating and taking notes. At the end of the course students will draft, write, and edit a 5-paragraph essay.
Research Strategies
Research Strategies introduces students to primary and secondary sources. Each lesson, students will work with a different kind of primary or secondary source and critically examine the advantages and inherent biases in that particular type of document. Short written assignments will be completed throughout the course.
Argumentation & Presentations
Argumentation and Presentation teaches students to form and write a well-researched persuasive speech. The second half of the course students will practice presenting their speech and become comfortable with public speaking.
Study Strategies
Study Skills
Study Skills is designed to teach students how to read and process information quickly and efficiently while improving retention. Using textbooks, students will perfect highlighting, annotating, note taking, and summarizing key information from each chapter.
Academic Planning
Academic Planning teaches students how to prioritize their class assignments and efficiently manage their time. Students will maintain homework planners and academic and extracurricular calendars to assist in setting weekly goals.
Homework Help
Homework help, when combined with Study Skills or Academic Planning, helps students improve their standing in English and History courses. This includes reviewing class content, supplemental lectures, and essay drafting. Each class will be customized to help meet the needs of the student and the class requirements.

Advanced Placement
History Supplement
The History Supplement Course is designed for students who are taking AP classes in school and need additional help processing the information. This is not a homework help class, but a full curriculum focused on strengthening writing skills for each type of essay questions, and reviewing historical themes which appear on the exams. Students will have homework and reading assignments outside of class focused on practicing skill sets learned in class.
English Supplement
The English Supplement Course is designed for students who are taking AP classes in school and need additional help processing the information. This is not a homework help class, but a full curriculum focused on strengthening writing skills for each type of essay question and reviewing literary concepts which appear on the exams. Students will have homework and reading assignments outside of class focused on practicing skill sets learned in class.
History Prep
For those students who wish to take a History exam which is not offered at their school, this course prepares you for the exam with full lectures and written work. Students will have homework and reading assignments outside of class focused on practicing skill sets learned in class. This course is an excellent way to get more AP courses under your belt for college, but students must commit to the class just as they would a school class.
English Prep
For those students who wish to take an English exam which is not offered at their school, this course prepares you for the exam with full lectures and written work. Students will have homework and reading assignments outside of class focused on practicing skill sets learned in class. NOW OFFERING LSAT EXAM PREP
Colleges require the SAT or ACT and most private schools require either the Secondary School Admissions Test, High School Placement Test, or the Independent School Entrance Exam along with strong grades. Each tests math, verbal, and writing skills This class works through each section of the test to help students understand how the questions are written, practice necessary skills, and complete practice questions.
Personal Statement Writing
Personal Statements are the first thing schools look at after grades when admitting new students and writing a strong essay is vital to your application. During writing sessions students will plan, draft, and edit their essays to construct strong themes with impactful narratives.
Interview Preparation
During interview preparation students will learn how to put their best foot forward in an interview setting. This includes helping students identify their strengths and mitigate their weaknesses when speaking about themselves, understanding the intent of an interviewer’s questions, and mock interviews.
